MY
EXPERIENCE
I have over 22 years of experience as a divorce
professional. Since 1994 my professional practice has largely been limited to divorce
mediation, making me of the few mediators in New Jersey who makes a living from mediation
(as opposed to divorce attorneys who do a few mediations on the side). This benefits you.
The adversarial approach is the opposite of mediation, making it difficult or impossible
to both well. I will help you create a mediation process which puts in control, allowing
you to be creative in fashioning an agreement that better fits your situation.
I have trained in divorce
mediation at Harvard University, Seton Hall Law School, the American Arbitration
Association, etc. and have mediated thousands of divorces. My experience and expertise has
been recognized by hundreds of professionals have sought me out to train them in divorce
mediation at Rutgers (since 1996) and at the Institute for Continuing Legal Education
(ICLE, since 2001) and as a Master of the Justice Marie L. Garibaldi Inn of Court for
Alternate Dispute Resolution. The New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators (of
which I am past President) and the Association for Conflict Resolution (formerly the
Academy of Family Mediators) have both designated me an accredited divorce mediator. I
have presented on divorce mediation before the New Jersey Council of Family Court Judges,
the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of Social
Workers, and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
The Governor of New Jersey appointed me the only divorce
mediator on the Commission to Study the Law of Divorce, on which I serves as Vice
Chairman. Under my leadership the members unanimously recommended the increased use of
mediation in New Jersey divorces.
Almost eight years of divorce litigation experience at
one of the largest law firms in New Jersey after my judicial clerkship in divorce court in
Jersey City are the background that helps you find a better way to do your divorce. I also
served on the Middlesex County Matrimonial Early Settlement Panel for several years. |
